EurOMA26: Doctoral Seminar

The 25th EurOMA Doctoral Seminar will take place at the Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU Vienna) on the 27th & 28th of June 2026

Objective

The EurOMA Doctoral Seminar provides PhD students with a forum to present and discuss their research, and an opportunity to get feedback from and exchange comments with fellow PhD students and established researchers.

Structure

The Doctoral Seminar consists of two ‘classes’ or years. In the first-year class, participants are invited to present their research design and preliminary results. This class is meant for students who are in the first year or early in the second year of their PhD studies. In the second-year class, the discussion will focus on results and preliminary conclusions. Students who took part in a previous first-year class will be invited to join the second-year class, but it is also possible to apply directly to the second-year class.

Faculty

A faculty of established scholars will take part in the Doctoral Seminar, providing support and feedback, sharing their experiences, and engaging actively in the discussions.

Application Process

PhD students applying for the first time must submit a short project description (maximum 5 pages) with name, project title, affiliation, and a letter of recommendation from their supervisor. These two documents must be sent by email to par.ahlstrom@hhs.se and minelle.silva@umanitoba.ca no later than February 11th, 2026.

PhD students who have previously participated in the seminar, need to confirm their participation by email to par.ahlstrom@hhs.se and minelle.silva@umanitoba.ca no later than February 11th, 2026.

Notification & Preparation

All applicants will be notified of acceptance or rejection of their application by February 25th, 2026.

Accepted first year applicants will be asked to prepare and submit a paper or research proposal describing their research design, no later than May 26th, 2026.

Accepted second year participants will be asked to deliver a paper or working paper covering the preliminary results and conclusions of their research, no later than May 26th, 2026.

Certification & Credit

Upon successful completion of the Doctoral Seminar, first year participants receive a certificate titled ‘Research Design in Operations Management’.

Second year participants receive a certificate titled ‘Preliminary Results/Working Paper’.

Each Doctoral Seminar counts for 3 ECTS.

EurOMA Inclusiveness Programme

The European Operations Management Association is offering the possibility for a select number of PhD students to participate free to charge in the Doctoral Seminar and the EurOMA Conference 2026.
The possibility to attend the events free of charge is open to PhD students participating in the Doctoral Seminar for the first time To apply for the opportunity to attend both events free of charge, PhD students need to:

  • Indicate their interest in having their registration fees waived in their Doctoral Seminar application document.
  • Ensure that the supervisor’s letter of recommendation clearly states the need and relevance of participating in the inclusiveness program.

The selection of PhD students who will be included in the inclusiveness program will be done by a committee with representatives from the EurOMA board, the conference organizers and the Doctoral Seminar. Registration

You can register for the Doctoral Seminar via the registration system. Students, whose application has been accepted, will receive information on how to register for the Doctoral Seminar and the EurOMA Conference. Please, do not register before receiving these instructions.

The registration fee for the Doctoral Seminar is € 200. This fee includes participation at the seminar on two days, seminar materials, coffee breaks, lunches and the Doctoral Seminar dinner. Access to the main conference is not included in this fee.
